Point Lookout Historical Society

Dear Neighbors

We are the Officers and Board of the Point Lookout Historical Society.

The Point Lookout Historical Society was founded in 1993 by Rosemary Dowling and Audrey and Mel Brown. Now, 30 years later, it continues to preserve our past, educating the community about Point Lookout’s heritage while adding to the artistic and intellectual future of the town.

Over the next year we will serve Point Lookout in several ways

  • We will revive and renew the The Outlook, with an additional focus on real-time news delivered digitally through a new website and social media, with printed historical stories throughout the year.
  • We will curate exhibits in town throughout the year on a variety of different subjects.
  • We are creating the The Outlook Podcast, which will highlight those things that make Point Lookout special.
  • We will begin digitizing our extensive collection of documents, newspapers, photographs and ephemera so that access is improved, and exhibitions can be scheduled.
  • We will continue our beloved Summer Art Show each August, working to make sure we champion the artists of today (and tomorrow)
  • We will continue our Holiday Craft Fair each December, again highlighting the creativity of our community.
  • We will host the Historical Pub Crawl, visiting the watering holes of today (and yesterday).
  • We will host the The Outlook Oyster Festival: Beers, Bands and Bivalves

This is an ambitious agenda, and we will need your help.

  • Please share your information, or subscribe online, so that we can build readership for The Outlook.
  • Please let us know if you can share original (or copies) of your family’s Point Lookout histories.
  • Please consider supporting us by financially underwriting our work, and please consider volunteering and joining our team.

Together we can make a difference.

See you around town.

Sincerely,
